Does My Child Need Speech Therapy?
You know your child best, and may want to schedule a free consultation if you have concerns that include a speech delay or any of the following:
Articulation
Your child may have difficulty producing a certain sound(s) or words.
Phonology
Your child may have difficulty with patterns of sounds, such as leaving off the beginning or ending sounds in words.
Fluency/Stuttering
Your child may be repeating parts of words, whole words, or phrases. He or she might appear to be struggling to produce speech smoothly.
Receptive Language
Your child may have difficulty comprehending language. This may include following directions, answering questions, or understanding what certain words mean.
Expressive Language
Your child may have difficulty using language for the purpose of sharing thoughts, opinions, and to make requests. He or she may not be using a variety of words, or have difficulty putting words together in the right order (conventions of grammar), or knowing the appropriate names/descriptions for objects and items (vocabulary).
Social and Pragmatic Language
Your child may have difficulty using verbal and non-verbal communication for social purposes. This may include conversational turn-taking, and knowing what, when, and how to share information at an appropriate time.
